Lucilla was married to Lucius Verus in a strategic union arranged by her father, Marcus Aurelius, to strengthen the legitimacy of the co-emperorship. Following her husband's death, she maintained her imperial status as Augusta, but was later implicated in a failed conspiracy against her brother, Commodus, and was executed.
 
Her coins were issued during her time as Augusta, a title signifying her role as a divine and matronly figure in Roman society. These denarii served as both currency and instruments of imperial propaganda, celebrating her virtues and familial connections.
